I'm not (on my holidays) but I have been rather poorly. Nothing life threatening but distinctly under par. I've been itching to shoot for two days - I had my sights trained on the coast and a list of lighthouses for an upcoming brief - but have been good for little more than sleeping and reading. Neither of which are time wasted of course. The most strenuous thing I've accomplished this day is a stroll down the road for ice cream and more newspapers having exhausted the magazine rack. It's a sad reflection on these tabloid days that the sunday papers from January yellowing are as vacuously pertinent as todays editions. Anyway I've cobbled a clutch of post-its with some Nice New Words: Epicene, Anodyne and Disambiguate. And a Good Phrase (in response to a garish antique ring from a fashion doyen) She said "you must wear that all the time" I love the stress of the italics.
I get mixed up, between Travemunde and Warnemunde. In Germany. And I couldn't decide which shot I preferred either. The Germans have some fabulous habits, especially at the seaside and they do bracing coastal retreats particularly well. I feel I could curl into one of these wicker boxes for a week quite contentedly. With a tartan blanket and matching flask. Perhaps a box of books and a bottle of Riesling too.
Back on Monday, sword sharpened.
