A couple of out-takes from one of last weeks photo shoots for Stage Crew. (Ireland's premier crewing company for corporate, conference and concert) The design brief encouraged clean, stylised angles and a little less rock and roll. The on-site documentry is my favourite style of commercial or industrial photo shoot. People can be a little self-conscious at first. The novelty soon wears off however. I'm always delighted when it becomes apparant that they have forgotton you are there and you can dart between them. It is a small insight into how easilly 'fly-on'the-'wall' documentry crews can invade lives.
I very rarely stage these shoots. I'm reluctant to engage with the environment I'm working in. If I step inside their world and rearrange it, the work ceases to be a documentry. It becomes an entirely different creative process and style of photography. Plus I cost more, because we're going to need a stylist.
